In the normal operation process of the batteries, the lead of the negative plates and the lead dioxide of the positive plates are combined with the sulfuric acid of the electrolyte producing Lead Sulphate (PbSO4).
This process is normally reversed when the battery is recharged by re-forming the original materials of the plates: Lead in the negative plates and Lead dioxide from the positive plates.
In certain circumstances, the Lead Sulfate in the plates hardens and large crystals and thick layers form.
These hardened crystals do not have a reversible process, that is, the normal recharge of the battery can not undo these crystals of Lead Sulphate.
This is what is known as SULFATATION of the battery.
Sulfation causes an increasing loss of battery capacity.
According to the studies of the Battery Council International (BCI) of Chicago, USA, it was concluded that between 70% and 80% of the acid-lead batteries are prematurely replaced due to the sulfation that occurs in the lead plates.
The lead acid battery protector is an electronic device based on cutting-edge technology, which is permanently connected to the terminals of a battery. In this way the Battery Protector sends composite resonant pulses to the battery plates, keeping them free of sulfate accumulation. In batteries with accumulation of sulphate, these pulses manage to loosen the sulphate crystals from the plates of the battery in order that these can be dissolved again in the electrolyte. The battery remains in optimal conditions and its life is extended up to 2-3 times.
The sooner you start treating a battery that is in operation, the better the benefits will be. The newer the battery, the greater the chances of duplication, tripling and even quadrupling its normal lifetime. Note: The lead acid battery protector will not restore physically damaged batteries or batteries with dead cells.
Batteries without treatment usually empeorán with use. Once treated with the battery protector, the batteries will gradually improve. Regular daily use is enough for the process to work. Generally, after a couple of weeks you will notice improvements in starting, better ignition spark, reduced alternator load, brighter lighting, faster charging and slower discharge.
